The Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture is seeking an experienced in-house Technical Trainer to join the team on the Central Interceptor Project.

The Central Interceptor is a wastewater tunnel that will run between the Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Grey Lynn. The main tunnel will run underground for 14.7 kilometres and will be at a depth of between 15 and 110 metres. It will cross the Manukau Harbour at about 15 metres below the seabed. Along the route, it will connect to the existing wastewater network, which will divert flows and overflows into the tunnel to reduce overflows. 

Reporting to the Training and Development Manager, you will develop and deliver construction-related technical training to our site-based employees, ensuring that the construction team are provided with the appropriate training to competently carry out their duties and perform to the best of their abilities every day.  

What you will be doing:

  • Deliver NZQA unit standards as an accredited assessor
  • Design, develop and conduct hands-on construction site training workshops 
  • Conduct on-the-job observations, identify learning opportunities and provide feedback and recommendations for technical skills improvement
  • Contribute to the development of our learning curriculum, providing best practice solutions
  • Assist with the delivery of the project induction and contribute to the continuous development of the induction framework
  • Obtain and /or develop effective training materials utilising a variety of media
  • Work with industry partners to develop new training initiatives and qualifications that are relevant and beneficial to the project

What you will have:

  • National Certificate in Adult Education and Training or a Workplace assessor
  • Minimum 5 years previous experience in the construction industry delivering training to a diverse construction workforce
  • Excellent interpersonal and organisational skills 
  • Exceptional verbal and written English communication skills
  • Highly motivated, able to work independently and collaboratively

This is a hands-on role working on our construction sites and at our Training Centre in Māngere for classroom-based activities and workshops.
