The Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture is seeking a Mechanical & Electrical Manager to join our team on the Central Interceptor Project. 

The Central Interceptor is New Zealand’s largest ever Wastewater Project consisting of close to 20km of tunnels, more than 17 shafts, a major pump station and substantial wastewater management and network infrastructure works.

The primary responsibility of this position is to manage the delivery of the pump station, with respect to the mechanical and electrical disciplines, ensuring its construction is completed safely, to specification, on time and within budget for the Central Interceptor Project.

Some of the things you’ll get in involved in:

  • Provide leadership and coordination for the construction of the mechanical and electrical scopes for the pump station
  • Achieve Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) engineering operational objectives by leading mechanical & electrical engineering information, recommendations and reviews, in collaboration with the Design team
  • Managing design and providing advice on design interfaces, both internally and externally
  • Support and liaise with the procurement team in advising and selecting suppliers, reviewing tenders and equipment ensuring they meet Watercare requirements
  • Support the construction team in establishing installation methodologies, sequences and schedules, planning shut-downs and installations
  • Liaise, build and foster excellent relationships with the client, subcontractor and construction team
  • Manage sub-contractors, ensuring project milestones are met
  • Monitor and inspect construction activities, advise on quality control and quality assurance issues and formulate solutions
  • Regular reporting on progress, executing change management processes

The successful candidate will have:

  • Degree qualifications in Civil, Mechanical and/or Electrical Engineering or equivalent degree
  • 5-10 years in Mechanical & Electrical project management experience
  • Strong Leadership experience
  • Electrical and commissioning experience is essential
  • Experience working on heavy civil infrastructure projects
  • Good knowledge of Pump stations and water treatment plants
  • Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
  • Sound planning and organisational skills
  • Communication that is clear, concise and easily understood both in written and verbal form
  • Full clean driver’s license
