We are recruiting across our Northern Sites. We are keen to hear from safety conscious Dogmen who share our safety vision of “ I Think Safe, We Work Safe, We All Go Home Safe”. Reporting to the Supervisor you will be spotting, and directing the crane operator during lifts and other plant movement to ensure the safe loading and unloading of complex loads on sites.
Key responsibilities include but may not be limited to the following;
Working with our teams operating crawler cranes often in rough terrain and other plant equipment. You will be providing guidance for the safe plant movement on site, communicating via audio and signaling. Identify loads that are safe, taking appropriate actions for unsafe loads. Apply suitable slinging techniques, assist with the checking of equipment to ensure they are safe for use and health and safety processes are followed, minimising and reporting any unsafe activities.
The successful candidate will have:
- 2-4 years Dogman/Slinging experience in a heavy civils construction sites
- Confident in understanding and following lift plans
- NZ Unit Standards 3789 (regular loads) and 3801 (complex loads) is preferred
- Positive and pro-active approach toward teamwork
- Good written and verbal communication skills
- A strong safety awareness and ability to follow our lifesaving rules
- Ability to work under pressure, determine priorities and follow instructions
- NZ Construct Safe quals ideal but not essential – we will provide this training!

Minimum 40 hours a week between the hours of 7 am and 6 pm, Monday to Saturday until such time as required to work on a rostered shift pattern, in line with the programme demands of the project.
All successful applicants will be required to undertake and satisfactorily pass a Ministry of Justice and pre-employment drug and medical checks.
