The Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture is seeking an experienced steel fixers to join the team on the Central Interceptor Project.

Reporting to the Supervisor you will assist with the day to day construction activities and steel fixing for the Central Interceptor Project.

What you will be doing:

• Perform day to day construction activities
• Fix mesh and reinforcing steel into position in formwork for concrete pours
• Keep the supervisor informed of construction status/challenges
• Operate construction plant/equipment safely
• Work with plant & equipment
• Assist with checking of equipment to ensure they are safe for use
• Read and interpret detailed plans
• Measure, cut, bend, and fit welded wire mesh into concrete areas to be mesh-reinforced

The successful Candidate will have:

• 1 – 4 years of labouring experience
• Experience as a steel fixer: cutting, tying, inserting ground beams, constructing columns and other forms, cage-making etc.
• Experience working on civil infrastructure projects
• Positive and pro-active approach towards team work
• Safety awareness
• Construct Safe Level 1 is ideal but not essential – we will provide training!

The Central Interceptor is the largest wastewater tunnel in New Zealand. It is 13km long, 4.5m in width and height and it will be constructed between Western Springs and the Mangere Wastewater Treatment Plant – by us!

The rate of pay for this role will depend on your level of skills, experience and qualifications. Our pay range will be from $30 per hour to $40 per hour. 

All successful applicants will be required to undertake a pre-employment medical, along with a drug and alcohol test.
