The Ghella Abergeldie Joint Venture is seeking a Training and Development Manager to join the Central Interceptor Project team.

The Central Interceptor is a wastewater tunnel between the Māngere Wastewater Treatment Plant and Grey Lynn. The main tunnel will run underground for 14.7 kilometres and will be at a depth of between 15 and 110 metres. It will cross the Manukau Harbour at about 15 metres below the seabed. Along the route, it will connect to the existing wastewater network, which will divert flows and overflows into the tunnel to reduce overflows. 

The primary responsibility of this position is to drive training and development initiatives. You will oversee a team to deliver construction-related technical training to site-based teams, develop career pathways and implement innovative and effective methods to educate and enhance performance on the Central Interceptor Project.

What you will be doing:

  • Lead the delivery of the project induction framework and project-wide training and development programmes
  • Conduct annual training and development needs assessment
  • Consistently monitor the effectiveness of training programmes and updates and improves them to respond to changing needs
  • Conduct review of all completed training to evaluate and measure results
  • Analyse training needs to develop new training programmes or modify and improve existing programmes
  • Develop close relationships with training providers and other key stakeholders to develop joint training and development programmes and develop new training initiatives and qualifications that are relevant and beneficial to the project

What you will have:

  • Degree qualifications in Human Resources, Learning, Business or equivalent
  • Minimum of 8 years experience in a training/learning and development role
  • Sound knowledge and experience working in the construction/infrastructure sector
  • Training, coaching and facilitator experience
  • Experience developing and building industry parentship relationships
  • Ability to build rapport with people from all levels and backgrounds
  • Sound planning and organisational skills
  • Progressive thinking and robust administration capabilities.

The Training and Development Manager is required to work between the project office and the Māngere Training Centre.
